Disney Flashback Friday: Main Street Electrical Parade Costumes at Mickey's Halloween Party

Friday, September 30, 2011

Mickey's Halloween Party starts tonight at Disneyland!
I just love seeing all the creative costumes people come up with.
Last year my favorite was this group who dressed up as the Main Street Electrical Parade. They even had the music playing while walking around.
Mickey's Halloween Party is a separate ticket event on 10 special nights.
Sept 30 and Oct 3, 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25, 28, and 31.
Tickets are available at Disneyland.com/halloween.

Are you planning on attending this year?

Want to join in? It's easy! The only rules are that it must be a Disney flashback. Your flashback can be from 20 years ago or 1 month ago. It's your flashback so have fun with it.

Halloween at Big Thunder Ranch in Disneyland

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Halloween has arrived at the Big Thunder Ranch.
In a previous post, I talked about how you can visit the goats and hide away in Miss Chris' Cabin to color. It's a nice place to take a break on a busy day at Disneyland. We spend a lot of time here, as my son is a big fan of this area. I did warn that once Halloween and Christmas arrived the area would be transformed, and the cabin would no longer be a spot to color. As promised it has been moved, and I'm here to share with you what Big Thunder Ranch looks like during the Halloween season.
Pumpkins and autumn decorations now line the outside fence of the goats petting area. If you have a baby or little ones, this would make a cute photo spot for you.
The goats are looking festive with their Halloween scarves, and one  was even dressed like a scarecrow.  On a side note... don't be fooled by that rope near the goat. It's part of a fenced off area only the goats are allowed. He is not tied down. All goats roam freely.
My absolute favorite part about the ranch this time of year is the pumpkin carvers!
I like to make it out 2-3 times a week during this time of year, so I won't miss any of the pumpkins being carved. Depending on how much of the pumpkin is carved, some last weeks while others only a few days before they get moldy.

Enter Miss Chris' Cabin, and you'll find the whole inside decorated with plenty of photo opportunities for your group.

Now the coloring area has been moved outside past Miss Chris' Cabin. There is a station set up with bat finger puppets and coloring sheets, that also come with costumes to add.
Once you grab your coloring item of choice, you can take a seat at a table with a basket full of crayons and color your heart out. If you are lucky, you may just get to color with Jessie or Woody.
And of course they also pose for pictures and sign autographs over in this area too.
I just love when Halloween takes over at the ranch because not only does it brighten the area up, but it also means Santa and his reindeer are not far behind too.
On your way out, hang a right for another photo op area.

Disney Flashback Friday

Welcome to another week of Disney Flashback Friday.
Mickey's Halloween Party at Disneyland starts next Friday, and I'm gearing up for it.
My son was 7 months old, when he went to his first Mickey's Halloween Party. I decided to dress us as Mickey and Minnie, and the very first thing we did when we got there was look for Mickey and Minnie to get our picture taken with. I decided on that costume, when I saw the Minnie shoes for sale at the D23 Expo in 2009. I had to get them, and can I tell you that they are super comfy and fun to wear!
I also attached a pluto to his stroller to complete our outfits.
Are you going to Mickey's Halloween Party? What are you dressing up as?

Disney Tip Tuesday: Fantasyland Thirst Quencher

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Welcome to another Disney Tip Tuesday with Days in the Park and Magical Days with the Mouse.
Chad and I have teamed up on our blogs to give you some tips you may or may not know about around the Disneyland Resort.
Today we are taking a look into Fantasyland.
When my son and I go to the Disneyland Resort, we pretty much load up on water for our drinks. I'll get the occasional soda and he will get a milk with his kid meal, but other then that we drink water, water, water!
We do have a soft spot though... we have recently over the summer become addicted to Disneyland's frozen lemonade.  Now I'm not talking about those frozen cups of lemonade at the ice cream carts that are hard as a rock, and you are forced to dig out with a spoon. No this is a slushy type drink.
I first started getting them at a cart just outside of Storybook Land on your way to It's a Small World, but then I slowly noticed that these carts are all over the resort.
As many times as we've rode Casey Jr. Circus Train, and then walked over to Big Thunder Ranch (and let me tell you it's A LOT), I never noticed the lemonade cart by the exit of Casey Jr.
Now it's a must stop once we get off Casey Jr. Circus Train.
The frozen lemonade is $4.19 which comes out to $4.50 with tax, and you can have it as plain lemonade or add cherry or raspberry flavor to it for free!
We've had all three flavors, but I really prefer just plain old lemonade. They are all delicious though, and are perfect for hot days when you are dying of thirst. They are a life saver!
On one visit I was craving the frozen lemonade, and decided I didn't need to get one again that week. As I was walking through Downtown Disney I noticed that Wetzel Pretzel has a frozen lemonade too. Not only that, but it was also something like .50 cents cheaper. I decided to cave and buy one on our way to the car. Let me tell you right now... spend the extra money on the Disneyland one. Not only was the taste much nicer, but Disneyland's ice is chopped up perfectly into slush that doesn't lose it's juice. Nothing worse then getting a slushy drink, and you suck up all the juice leaving ice behind.
So if you've never tried one of these, I say they are a must.
If you have... then you know what I'm talking about!
Even Mickey enjoys drinking the frozen lemonade.
Now head over to Days in the Park to see Chad's tip for Fantasyland. If you have a lemonade or two, you may find it very useful.
Have you tried the frozen lemonade? What do you think? Do you prefer plain lemonade like me or get one of the flavors? Speak up! I want to know.

Duffy's Pumpkin Patch at Disney California Adventure

Saturday, September 17, 2011

Duffy's photo spot on Paradise Pier in Disney California Adventure has had a makeover!
Now you'll be greeted with Duffy's Pumpkin Patch, which is also an excellent spot for a photo opt when Duffy is not out.
Duffy is dressed for the holiday season in an orange pumpkin sweater and hat.

My Little Guy was super excited to see Duffy decked out for the holiday.

Inside they have a Tres Leches cupcake $4.99.
This year they have two holiday mugs for you to purchase. All around the resort they have this "Happy Halloween" mug with Mickey, Minnie and gang. $6.99
Back at French Market Restaurant they have this Lock, Shock, and Barrel in Madame Leota's seance room from the Haunted Mansion. $6.99
And at several popcorn carts they have the Mickey ghost popcorn buckets ($12.00) back from last year, and this new one that says "Happy Halloween" with Mickey and gang $6.00.
