The Storybook Land Canal Boats Decorated for Christmas

Monday, December 13, 2010

One of my favorite things to do during the Christmas season at Disneyland is to ride the Storybook Land Canal Boats. This ride is often overlooked, and many do not know that it in fact too is decorated for the holidays!
But first for those of you who do not know about this ride, let me tell you a little about it.
Located over in Fantasyland near Dumbo, you will find Monstro the Whale with his mouth open. Each boat will go through Monsto's mouth.
Once on the other side, you will find miniature replicas of famous locations from Disney films such as, The Three Little Pig houses,  London Park from Peter Pan, the Alpine Village from Pinocchio, the Sultan's Palace from Aladdin, the village from Cinderella, Dutch Windmills from The Old Mill,  Toad Hall from The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, the English Village from Alice in Wonderland, and Prince Eric's Seaside Castle from Little Mermaid.
What makes it so special this time of the year is that everything is decorated for Christmas. You'll find miniature Christmas trees, decorated garlands, wreaths, and red bows.

All of the plants, shrubs, and trees are 100% real, which makes this hidden gem a real beautiful find. I suggest taking the Canal Boats to get an up close and personal view of all the miniatures, but you can also see many by riding the Casey Jr. Circus Train that has a track above running throughout.

This is also beautiful at night with all the twinkling lights.
Do keep in mind that the Storybook Land Canal Boats close approximately one hour before a parade  starts, but it will reopen once the parade is done. It is also closed during fireworks, so make sure to plan around that to get on.
So next time you are at the park enjoying The Christmas Fantasy Parade and It's a Small World Holiday, make sure to take a ride on the Storybook Land Canal Boats for a little extra holiday cheer!

Smallest decorations I've ever seen. SO cute! I need to do this at night sometime.

Thanks for sharing! :)
