Disney Flashback Friday: Mickey Pumpkin on Main Street

Friday, September 16, 2011

It's Flashback Friday.
Today Halloween officially begins at Disneyland. One place I have to get a picture with my son to celebrate the holiday is in front of the giant Mickey pumpkin on Main Street.
The first picture, I almost missed getting a picture for the first year. I ended up rushing over on October 30, 2009 just to get a picture with the pumpkin.
The last two are from last year. The middle one was early in the season, and the last one was a week before Halloween at Mickey's Halloween Party. It rained that night, and my Jedi robe soaked up the water leaving the bottom half soaking wet. My Little Guy was Yoda.
Can't wait to get my photo with the Little Guy for 2011 in front of the pumpkin.

Disney Flashback Friday: Mickey's Halloween Treat 1995

Friday, September 9, 2011

It's Flashback Friday, and today I thought I'd share some photos from the first Mickey's Halloween Treat (now called Mickey's Halloween Party) from 1995.
I've shared these photos before, but now I have many new readers who may have missed them.
The above blowup was right in front of the entrance of Disneyland before you went in. It was huge in person.

 The guide map.
 $5.00 off coupons at McDonalds.
As you walked down Main Street a tent on the right near the corn dog wagon was set up. Inside we saw this giant pumpkin being carved.
Princess Aurora with Flora, Merryweather, and Fauna watching above on Sleeping Beauty Castle.
I dressed as Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. The movie was only two years old and not the cult classic it is today, so there were only two of us that night there dressed as her. I was stopped several times to take photos with people. The costume is handmade.
I LOVE Clopin! More on him in a future Disney Flashback.
They had special cut-outs just for the party all around Disneyland to take pictures with.
And they had Chewbacca out too!
Can't wait to go this year, as I haven't missed any of the Halloween parties.

Disney Flashback Friday: Pixar Play Parade Through A One Year Old's Eyes

Friday, September 2, 2011

It's Flashback Friday.... didn't I just do one of these two days ago? This week went by fast!
As I was searching for photos of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Happy Birthday), I came across these pictures from a year ago.  Seeing the excitement and pure happiness my Little Guy has in these pictures made me smile.
I took these pictures while we waited and watched the Pixar Play Parade at Disney California Adventure.  Let's take a look through my then one year old's eyes shall we?

 Here it comes!

Disney Flashback Friday - The Mulan Parade

Friday, August 26, 2011

Welcome to another Disney Flashback Friday.
Where did this week go? It seems I can't find enough hours in the day to get my posts up about the D23 Expo. As I panicked realizing that it was indeed time for another Flashback, I knew it had to be something quick. I took a glance in a box of photos I have that need to be organized, and I came across these three photos from my last trip to Walt Disney World 13 years ago.
So here I am at Disney's Hollywood Studios sitting by myself. Now of course I am wondering why I am sitting with people I don't know on both sides of me. I have no clue. Funny but weird.  I'm the retro looking one in the middle.  In another photo that I'm not posting, my family and friends are across the street. Again weird. Maybe I was mad at someone. Haha.  On a side note, notice the guy in the white tank top, he appears to be looking at my family taking the picture too.
We are waiting for the Mulan Parade.
 Great shot of their backs.
Another great shot from behind. Obviously my photography skills have gotten better. ;)
One thing I know for sure by looking at these photos... I miss it there. Such fun memories, and I'm ready to create some new ones.

Disney Flashback Friday: D23 Expo Baby

Friday, August 19, 2011

Welcome to another Disney Flashback Friday!
Since I'm covering the D23 Expo, I thought I would just do a real quick flashback again to the first D23 Expo in 2009.
I had a baby back then... hard to believe!
Back then I was just a regular person who loved Disney, and I wasn't apart of the Disney community that I'm in now. I didn't know anyone, didn't meet up with anyone, and I didn't take a ton of pictures to report my day with others. Here he is in his stroller with a backdrop of attraction posters. We were waiting to see the Cars Land models.
I was a little limited on what I could do. I only went to a few panels because a crying baby doesn't make for a good panel. ;) There was still plenty for us to do and see even without the panels.
And wouldn't you know it... he was awake for the whole thing except for a quick nap.
When the expo was over on the second day, I looked down while walking back to Paradise Pier Hotel and saw a passed out baby. Darn. I wanted to get his picture with surfing Goofy, so I just rolled his sleeping self right up to Goofy and took this shot.
He's decked out in Nightmare Before Christmas with pumpkin socks on. I remember this day well, when I see this photo.

Disney Flashback Friday: D23 Expo 2009

Friday, August 12, 2011

Welcome to another Disney Flashback Friday!
With the excitement of D23 Expo next weekend, I thought I would flashback two years ago to the first D23 Expo.
My son was 5 months old at the time, and I tried to see as much as I could with him. I made it into a few panels including the famous one that Johnny Depp made an appearance at to announce the fourth Pirates of Caribbean movie, which by the way I screamed like a teenager when he appeared. I also remember telling my 5 month old that he didn't know what was going on, but one day I could tell him he was in the same room as the real Jack Sparrow.  There was something there for everyone at any age, and the whole experience was a lot of fun for me.

My pictures today aren't the best quality, but they are small sampling of the stuff I saw just walking around in between panel discussions.
Props from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland were on display, as well as a tea party for anyone to join in with the Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, and Alice entertaining the D23 guests.
The Main Street Electrical Parade turtle and ship you fly around in on Peter Pan's Flight at Disneyland were on display for photos.  There was a Buzz Lightyear cutout in one of the booths that sold toys.
We also got our photo taken with Luigi and Guido from the movie Cars, where they had a display with models of  Cars Land.
I took this video of a talking Lightning McQueen. He didn't have any sound, but his eyes and mouth move.
In the same area they had Wall-e come out for meet and greets. The line to have your picture with him was really long and my son was asleep that I didn't want to wake him, but now looking back I wish I would have done it. Here is a video I took of Wall-e waving hi to us.
And of course there were lots of movie props all over including Prince of Persia, Tron, A Christmas Carol, and from the TV show Lost.

I can hardly wait to see what is in store next week at the D23 Expo... you know the stuff they don't announce. I'll be Tweeting, Facebooking, and blogging the whole time I'm there.

On a separate note: Tonight the giveaway for the Phineas and Ferb: Across the 1st and 2nd Dimensions soundtrack ends! I have a couple copies to giveaway, so don't miss out on your chance to win one of them! You have 5 chances to win.

Disney Flashback Friday

Friday, August 5, 2011

Welcome to Disney Flashback Friday!

Today I am flashing back to a photo of me at age 3. I'm riding Jingles, the lead horse on King Arthur Carrousel. Some of you may remember seeing this photo already because I used it in my introduction on the Magical Blogorail. Shortly after sharing it the first time, I realized that as many times as my son and I have been on King Arthur Carrousel, I didn't have a single picture of him riding Jingles too.
I decided to make it a mission to get a picture of him.
After making the decision it took several attempts because Jingles is quite a popular horse. Then one day we were stopped at the gate to wait for the next ride. I was super excited. I watched Jingles the whole time, so I knew where to go once the carrousel stopped. When the gate was opened we hustled over, and I got a bunch of photos of my little guy riding Jingles.
Funny thing, we haven't been able to ride Jingles since.

Disney Flashback Friday- 1st Mickey Visit

Friday, July 29, 2011

Welcome back to another week of Disney Flashback Friday!
This week I'm flashing back to April 2009. My son was three weeks old when we took him to Disneyland for the first time.
We got his 1st visit button when we entered the park, and then we headed to Mickey's Toontown to meet the famous mouse himself. I was nervous about him wearing the button, so we waited until he saw Mickey to put it on. It's hard to believe he was ever that small.

Disney Flashback Friday - Sleeping Beauty Castle During Mickey's Halloween Party

Friday, July 22, 2011

Welcome to the first Disney Flashback Friday.
This week I want to flashback to last October. I don't know about you, but I'm ready for fall. I'm ready to bake and eat pumpkin goodies, to see pumpkins lining porch stairs, to see cute and scary Halloween decorations laid out on lawns, to see the leaves change colors, and to celebrate Halloween at Disneyland with Mickey's Halloween Party.
During Mickey's Halloween Party, Sleeping Beauty Castle is lit up with lots of eerie colors and projections.

It's fun to watch over and over again. Oh yes, I can't wait for the fall!
Tickets are on sale now for Mickey's Halloween Party.
Do you plan to go this year?

Disney Flashback Friday Starting This Friday

Wednesday, July 20, 2011

This Friday I will be hosting a Disney Flashback Friday.
I've done a few post where I've either flashback to a certain event that happened at Disneyland or posted a photo of me as a child at the park. I have tons of photos dating back to me at age 3 at Disneyland, so it only seemed right to start hosting a Disney Flashback each Friday.
I'm inviting you to join in with me.
The rules are simple...
Post a photo(s) with a short story related to Disney, then come back here each Friday and link up.
The Disney Flashback Friday button is available to the right for you to use on your post to help spread the word. It would also be nice to visit a few of the other flashbacks.
Please help spread the word of this new link up and share this post with your followers. The bigger the party... the more fun we will have flashing back!
See you Friday!

Flashback Friday: Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea Summer 2010

Friday, June 3, 2011

It's been awhile since I've done a Flashback Friday. Today I'm bringing you a special one all the way from Tokyo. My friend Picopicopinono is sharing some photos from Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea from Summer 2010.
Water is very popular during the summer because of the heat, but due to the recent earthquake many of these shows have been canceled for this year.
Let's flashback to last summer.
Tokyo Disneyland
"Cool the Heat"
Cool the Heat ran four times a day in front of Cinderella Castle. Plumber Goofy appeared to repair a water leak from the castle but failed. Water sprayed in great force on the stage. After Goofy failed to repair the leak, a character (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, or Stitch) came out with four dancers. They  would say splash and more water would spray out and soak the guests.

Cool the Heat video with Mickey.
Midsummer Night Panic
This was held twice nightly in front of Cinderella Castle.
Captain Gantu intruded Stitch's Hawaiian party. They would then have a rhythm battle that included fire and water.
The guests got soaked.
Midsummer Night Panic video
Tokyo DisneySea
 Chip n' Dale's Cool Service
Chip and Dale came out on a boat and sprayed water  onto guests. Then another boat would appear with a robot Chip n' Dale.  They would ask the crowd if they wanted more water with a keyword being "Mega Splash".
Several boats with other characters like Goofy and Mickey Mouse came out and sprayed the guests too.
It was hard to take pictures without your camera getting wet.

Around the four minute mark you will see this video camera get sprayed.
 Bon Fire Dance
This event arranged a "Bon Festival Dance" that is a traditional event of summer in Japan.
The Bon Fire Dance was done in an Arabian course because the King Sultan said, "I want to see the festival of Japan".
Guest also danced with Mickey, Minnie, Aladdin, and Jasmine.

Disney Kids Summer Adventure
Nami-nami-na
This event was held for kids. They danced with characters and sang nami nami nami nami nami nami na.
Nami is wave in Japanese.
Because it was hot in the summer of 2010, this event got canceled several times.

I want to thank Picopicopinono for sharing this great flashback with us. It's so fun to see the Disney magic throughout all the parks around the world.
